Chesterfield on Remembrance Sunday 2015

Sunday 8th November

We have the honour of taken part in the Remembrance Day Services in Chesterfield this year. Several ex Ships Company members have made great efforts to make this possible. Any one having served on HMS DANAE at any time are welcome and encouraged to attend, an agenda for the days events is laid out below. For those that wish to attend please let me know as soon as possible. I need to give numbers so we can be allocated our position in the Parade

We will have a Ships Reef made up and a standard bearer representing HMS DANAE will be a Cadet from TS DANAE. The Standard will be a white Ensign and the reef will be organised by Shipmate Paul Mann.

The Start of our day will be at the Crooked Spire Pub which is closed to the public at that time and we are arranging for the Cadets from TS DANAE to meet us giving these young girls and boys the opportunity to ask questions about the ROYAL NAVY and what is like to be on ships etc, by being a Cadet they are obviously very keen and are perhaps looking at a future in the RN in much the same way as we did. So lets be polite and professional and give them the sound knowledge of the years of experience we as Veterans can give them. Dignitaries from the Borough Council may call in to meet and greet us at the same time.

Saturday Evening 7th November

The Crocked Spire Pub run by Joe Mann son of Shipmate Paul Mann is a good place to muster for a few wets and a meet up for those arriving the day before. It a good pub with good food and beer a friendly atmosphere and Joe being the son of a Matelot is a good egg. I met him during my recce last Friday. Paul Mann has a local Taxi and is an ideal contact to get you to and fro, his contact details will be in an email winging its way to you. I personally will not be arriving in Chesterfield until the Sunday as my Son is getting Married on the Saturday , so I have a mad dash Sunday morning to get there and not be adrift.

I will publish a list of who is attending over the next day or so so please get in touch soonest
